1-90 bingo cards (90-ball)
A 1-90 bingo ticket is a grid of 3 rows × 9 columns holding 15 numbers, 5 in each row, with columns 1-9, 10-19, 20-29 … 80-90. This is the British 90-ball format, played for one line, two lines and a full house. About 3.67 quintillion different tickets exist; with 30 in play, the first line comes around call 36.

How 1-90 tickets are laid out
Each of the 9 columns has its own range (1-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-90), every row holds 5 numbers and 4 blanks, and numbers in a column run top to bottom in order. A ticket covers 17% of the values 1 to 90, so a given ticket is marked on only about one call in 6 and games run long.
A 90-ball game is usually played in three stages on the same tickets: one line, two lines, then a full house (all 15 numbers). In our 400 simulated games with 30 tickets the first line fell at call 36, the first two lines at call 58 and the first full house at call 72.
How to make 1-90 bingo tickets by hand
- Draw 3 rows of 9 boxes. Choose 5 boxes in each row for numbers and leave the other 4 blank, making sure every column gets at least one number.
- Fill column 1 from 1-9, column 2 from 10-19 and so on; column 9 takes 80-90, the only column with 11 numbers. Sort each column from smallest at the top to largest at the bottom.
- Check the ticket: 15 numbers in total, 5 per row, no column empty. Six tickets × 15 numbers = 90, which is why paper tickets come in strips of six that use every number once; this generator makes independent tickets instead.
- Write 1 to 90 on slips (or print the caller sheet) and draw them one at a time.

Exact chances: what is marked after 23, 45 and 68 calls
Chance that the numbers you need from 1 to 90 have all been called by each point, and the expected call at which the last of them comes up: k × (90 + 1) ÷ (k + 1).

How many calls until the first line
400 simulated games per row with tickets from this page's generator; a ticket wins on any full row. The range covers 8 games out of 10.
| Tickets in play | Median calls | Range (10th-90th percentile) | Share of the numbers called |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 ticket | 67 | 48-79 | 74% |
| 10 tickets | 43 | 31-54 | 48% |
| 30 tickets | 36 | 26-44 | 40% |
| 100 tickets | 29 | 21-36 | 32% |
How many 1-90 tickets per person
Start with one ticket per player; keen players can take two or three. In our runs a ticket on its own needed 67 calls for a line, while the first line among 10 tickets came at call 43, among 30 at call 36 and among 100 at call 29.
So for 1-90 bingo, 10 players with 3 tickets each, or 15 players with 2 each, should expect a winner around call 36 of 90; a class of 30 with one ticket each gives the same figure.
That spread (31 calls between one ticket and thirty) is large for a 90-number game, so giving keen players 2 or 3 tickets each speeds things up noticeably without changing the chances for anyone holding the same number of tickets.
What is in the 1-90 set
- 45 even and 45 odd numbers between 1 and 90.
- By length: 9 with one digit and 81 with two digits; mixing lengths is good place-value practice.
- 24 prime numbers in the set: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 … 89.
- Square numbers: 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64 and 81 (9 of 90).
- Multiples of ten: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90, a quick landmark for players scanning their card.
- Numbers with a repeated digit: 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77 and 88 (8 of 90).

How to play 1-90 bingo
-
Make the tickets
Generate tickets above (free up to 30 per set, all different) and print one or two per player; two each shortens a game that needs 67 calls for one ticket on its own.
-
Prepare the calls
Print the caller sheet: 1 to 90 (90 numbers) in a shuffled order.
-
Call and mark
Read each number twice and cross it off the caller board. Pause after the first line (around call 36 with 30 tickets), then play on for two lines and the full house.
-
Check the winner
Ask the winner to read back their row; every number must be on your board. A full house needs all 15 numbers; with 30 tickets that took 72 calls in our runs.

How do you make 1-90 bingo tickets?

How many tickets should each person get?
One or two 1-90 tickets. With 10 tickets in play the first line comes around call 43, with 30 around call 36 and with 100 around call 29; more tickets per player mainly makes the game shorter.
