About Spring bingo for kids
A spring card for preschool and early primary with short, concrete words children can sound out and point to: worm, snail, ladybug, caterpillar, nest, chick, kite, puddle and tulip. Nearly every square has a matching picture, so it doubles as a picture bingo, and the words line up with common spring units on plants, weather and baby animals.
This Spring list is 40 entries long and a 5x5 card with a free center takes 24, which leaves 16 off each card. That is why one entry (Rain, say) appears on about 18 of 30 cards: card 1, for instance, has no Sun or Rain.
A host reads out one entry at a time from the printed caller sheet (all 40 of them, shuffled); players daub the square if their card has it and call bingo on a full line.

How to host Spring bingo for kids
-
Print the Spring cards
Give each player one card; a free set prints up to 30, no two alike. Card 1 above starts with Seed, Bee, Nest, Picnic basket and Lamb.
-
Print the caller sheet
All 40 entries appear on it in shuffled order, opening with Bubbles, Tulip, Lamb, Bird and Jump rope; tick each one as you read it out.
-
Teach the life cycle with the calls: say 'Egg', 'Caterpillar' and 'Butterfly' in order, or 'Seed', 'Sprout' and 'Flower', and ask children what comes next before calling it.
-
Use the weather squares for movement: tiptoe for 'Rain', stomp for 'Puddle', and flash fingers for 'Lightning', then freeze when 'Sun' is called.
-
For ESL beginners, keep a 3x3 grid and say each word twice with its picture; animals like 'Duck', 'Frog' and 'Lamb' are easy to act out too.
-
Call until someone shouts bingo
With 30 cards, expect the first line near call 11 (Nest in this set's order) and a blackout near call 37; check the winner's squares against your ticked list.
Spring bingo for kids variations
-
Spring variation
Garden walk bingo: take the class outside with the picture cards and mark anything children can actually find or point to, such as a 'Worm', an 'Ant' or a 'Daisy'; the first line earns a seed to plant.
-
Blackout round
Card 1 needs all 24 squares, Seed to Jump rope; on average one card fills after 39.4 of the 40 calls (98% of the deck).
-
Picture bingo for pre-readers
Use 3x3 cards with the 35 entries that have a symbol, such as Flower, Sun and Rain.
