German Numbers Bingo Card Generator

Print free German Numbers bingo cards from 38 words such as achtzehn, dreiunddreißig and neunzig. Each 5x5 card with a free center holds 24 of them, so every card in a set is different; the caller reads out the number in English and players find the German word, and 30 players usually get a first line after about 11 calls.

About German Numbers bingo

German Numbers Bingo covers the number words from “null” to “tausend”, including the shortened forms “sechzehn” and “siebzehn”, the ß in “dreißig” and the long compounds that put the units first, such as “einundzwanzig” and “siebenundvierzig”. It suits beginner German classes and adult learners who need to understand prices, times and phone numbers spoken at full speed.

This German Numbers list is 38 words long and a 5x5 card with a free center takes 24, which leaves 14 off each card. That is why one entry (zwei, say) appears on about 19 of 30 cards: card 1, for instance, has no zwei or sieben.

The caller sheet lists the 38 words in shuffled order, but they are not read out as written: the caller reads out the number in English and players find the German word. The first complete line wins.

How to host German Numbers bingo

  1. Print the German Numbers cards

Give each player one card; a free set prints up to 30, no two alike. Card 1 above starts with siebenundvierzig, tausend, sechzig, dreizehn and zweihundert.

  2. Call the clue, not the square

The caller sheet lists all 38 words in shuffled order, opening with fünfzig, siebzehn, zwanzig, sieben and fünfzehn. For each one, read out the number in English and players find the German word, then tick it.

  3. Show the digits, such as 47, and let players build the word themselves, saying the units first: “sieben-und-vierzig”, which is the step most learners get wrong.

  4. Call “sechs”, “sechzehn” and “sechzig” in a row, then “sieben”, “siebzehn” and “siebzig”, and ask which letters disappear in the longer words.

  5. Mention that “eins” becomes “ein” inside compounds like “einundzwanzig”, while “hunderteins” keeps the s, so spelling the ones needs care.

  6. Check the answers on the winning line

With 30 cards, expect the first line near call 11 (vierzehn in this set's order). Ask the winner to say the clue for each square, which doubles as a quick review.

German Numbers bingo variations

  • German Numbers variation

Price-tag bingo: the caller reads prices the German way, such as “neunundneunzig Cent” or “zweihundert Euro”, and players mark the number they hear, practicing the reversed word order at shop speed.

  • Blackout round

Card 1 needs all 24 answers, siebenundvierzig to zwanzig; on average one card fills after 37.4 of the 38 calls (99% of the deck).

  • Quick 4x4 round

A 4x4 card needs 16 of the 38 words and no free space; one card is full after about 36.7 calls instead of 37.4.

First 15 calls of this German Numbers set

Seed "german-numbers" gives this order, the same one the caller sheet prints. With these calls, card 7 of the first 30 completes the N column (fünfzig, fünfzehn, zwanzig and sieben) on call 5, and card 28 is the first full card on call 35.

Frequently asked questions

How many words are on the German Numbers bingo list?

38, from acht to zwölf. A 5x5 card with a free center uses 24 of them, so each card leaves out 14. The shortest entry is elf (3 characters) and the longest is siebenundvierzig (16).

Are all German Numbers bingo cards the same?

No. Card 1 and card 2 of this set share 18 of their 24 squares, and every card is checked so none of the 30 in a free set repeats. About 6.00 × 10³³ different arrangements are possible from the 38 words (9,669,554,100 different selections of 24).

How many German Numbers bingo cards per person?

Usually one. Extra cards speed the game up only a little: on this list a first line took a median 11 calls with 30 cards in play, 10 with 60 (30 players on two cards each) and 14 with just 10. Two cards suit adults who want a faster game; young children do best with one. A free set of 30 covers 15 players on two cards each.

How do you play German Numbers bingo?

The caller sheet lists the 38 words in shuffled order, but they are not read out as written: the caller reads out the number in English and players find the German word. The first complete line wins.

How long does German Numbers bingo take?

A German Numbers game with 30 players usually reaches its first line after 11 calls (8-14 in 80% of simulated games), about 2 minutes at one call every 10 seconds. A blackout takes about 35; with 10 players the first line needs about 14.

Can I print German Numbers bingo cards for free?

Yes. The generator above makes up to 30 cards (5x5 cards with a free center) from the 38 words; Print cards sends them to your printer and Download PDF saves one card per page, so 30 cards take 30 pages plus the caller sheet. It all runs in your browser with no sign-up.

How do I make my own German Numbers bingo cards?

Start from this list: the 38 words are already in the generator, so delete neunzig or any other entry, type your own one per line and the cards update as you type. Keep at least 24 entries for 5x5 cards (16 for 4x4); the share link reprints exactly the same set.
