About Easter bingo

An Easter card for family gatherings and church halls that covers both sides of the day: Holy Week from Palm Sunday and Good Friday to a sunrise service, and the spring fun of an egg hunt, a chocolate bunny, jelly beans and an egg and spoon race. Traditions from other countries include Ukrainian pysanky, British simnel cake and paska bread.

This Easter list is 42 entries long and a 5x5 card with a free center takes 24, which leaves 18 off each card. That is why one entry (Dyed eggs, say) appears on about 17 of 30 cards: card 1, for instance, has no Easter lily or Easter bonnet.

The caller reads the 42 entries from a shuffled caller sheet and players mark them; the first complete line (row, column or diagonal) wins.

When to play Easter bingo

Easter 2027 falls on Sunday, March 28. The last Friday before it is March 26, a natural slot for a round at work or school.

In 2028 it falls on Sunday, April 16. Printing 30 cards at one card per page takes 30 sheets plus the caller sheet, so print a few days ahead and keep the share link (seed "easter") to reprint the same set.

How long Easter bingo lasts

Simulated over 150 shuffled games on cards 1-60 of this set: the median first line arrives on call 13 with 30 players and on call 15 with 10, while a blackout takes 38 calls, roughly 6 minutes at 10 seconds a call.

Easter bingo cards for 50, 100 or 200 players

A free set prints 30 unique cards, so a bigger room needs several sets (New shuffle makes the next one) or one Pro set of up to 1,000. The last two columns come from 150 shuffled games on cards 1-200 of this Easter set, at 10 seconds a call.

Running Easter bingo in a big room

  • Number the sets: print set 1, press New shuffle for set 2 and so on. 4 free sets cover 100 players and 7 cover 200; each set's share link reprints exactly the same cards.
  • Plan for shared wins: with 200 cards in play, 18% of simulated games had two or more cards complete a line on the same call (17% with 50). Keep spare prizes or a quick tie-break ready.
  • Expect short rounds: the first line comes around call 9 of 42 with 200 players, against call 13 with 30, so follow it with a blackout or a picture pattern.
  • Count the paper: at one card per page, 200 players need 200 sheets plus a caller sheet; Pro's 2-up and 4-up layouts cut that to 100 or 50.

How to host Easter bingo

  1. Print the Easter cards

Give each player one card; a free set prints up to 30, no two alike. Card 1 above starts with Hot cross buns, Basket grass, Golden egg, Palm Sunday and Hollow bunny.

  2. Print the caller sheet

All 42 entries appear on it in shuffled order, opening with Palm Sunday, Easter lily, Good Friday, Basket grass and Choir; tick each one as you read it out.

  3. Play after the egg hunt while children sort their finds; call 'Golden egg', 'Hidden eggs' and 'Chocolate eggs' first so younger players get early marks.

  4. For a church hall or senior group, use the Holy Week squares, such as 'Palm Sunday', 'Good Friday' and 'Sunrise service', and invite memories of past Easters between calls.

  5. Explain the less familiar traditions when they come up: 'Pysanky' are wax-resist decorated eggs from Ukraine and 'Egg tapping' is a game of knocking eggs together.

  6. Call until someone shouts bingo

With 30 cards, expect the first line near call 13 (Easter brunch in this set's order) and a blackout near call 38; check the winner's squares against your ticked list.

Easter bingo variations

  • Easter variation

Egg bingo: write the squares on slips inside plastic eggs and hide them; each egg found is opened and read aloud as the next call, so the hunt and the bingo game happen at the same time.

  • Blackout round

Card 1 needs all 24 squares, Hot cross buns to Lent; on average one card fills after 41.3 of the 42 calls (98% of the deck).

  • Quick 4x4 round

A 4x4 card needs 16 of the 42 entries and no free space; one card is full after about 40.5 calls instead of 41.3.

First 15 calls of this Easter set

Seed "easter" gives this order, the same one the caller sheet prints. With these calls, card 25 of the first 30 completes the diagonal from the top left (Lamb cake, Easter lily, Easter brunch and Palm Sunday) on call 13, and card 12 is the first full card on call 39.

Frequently asked questions

How many words are on the Easter bingo list?

42, from Basket grass to Wicker basket. A 5x5 card with a free center uses 24 of them, so each card leaves out 18. The shortest entry is Lent (4 characters) and the longest is Marshmallow chicks (18).

Are all Easter bingo cards the same?

No. Card 1 and card 2 of this set share 14 of their 24 squares, and every card is checked so none of the 30 in a free set repeats. About 2.19 × 10³⁵ different arrangements are possible from the 42 entries (353,697,121,050 different selections of 24).

How many Easter bingo cards per person?

One card each is standard. In 150 simulated games of this list, 30 players on one card each got a first line after a median 13 calls; with two cards each (60 in play) it came after 11, and 10 single cards took 15. In a hall, extra cards per player only add checking: 200 cards in play already bring the first line to about call 9. For a bigger room, make a second set with New shuffle: two sets are not checked against each other, but with about 2.19 × 10³⁵ possible cards a repeat is vanishingly unlikely, and one caller sheet serves both because every set uses the same 42 entries.

How long does Easter bingo take?

An Easter game with 30 players usually reaches its first line after 13 calls (9-15 in 80% of simulated games), about 2 minutes at one call every 10 seconds. A blackout takes about 38; with 10 players the first line needs about 15.

Can I print Easter bingo cards for free?

Yes. The generator above makes up to 30 cards (5x5 cards with a free center) from the 42 entries; Print cards sends them to your printer and Download PDF saves one card per page, so 30 cards take 30 pages plus the caller sheet. It all runs in your browser with no sign-up.

How do I make my own Easter bingo cards?

Start from this list: the 42 entries are already in the generator, so delete Hollow bunny or any other entry, type your own one per line and the cards update as you type. Keep at least 24 entries for 5x5 cards (16 for 4x4); the share link reprints exactly the same set.
