How to play two-letter Dolch sight word bingo

  1. Pre-teach the look-alikes

Read "am", "at", "an" and "as" together before the game; they all start with the letter A and have 2 letters.

  2. Print one card per child

Card 1 starts with "an", "on", "so", "we" and "go"; every other card mixes the 24 words differently, so no two children share a card.

  3. Call, say and use each word

Say "or", use it in a short sentence, then spell it if needed; this set continues with "we", "so", "it" and "am".

  4. Check the winning line

With these calls, card 24 wins first on call 8 with row 3: "am", "no", "so" and "it". Ask the winner to read the words back.

  5. Review the words that were not called

When card 24 wins on call 8, 16 words are still uncalled, such as "he", "as" and "be"; read them together or put them on the next review list. 13 of the 24 start with a vowel ("in", "is" and "it").
