About Halloween bingo

A classic all-ages Halloween list that mixes the symbols everyone recognizes, such as Jack-o'-lantern, Black cat, Cauldron and Full moon, with night-of traditions like Trick-or-treat, Costume parade and Bobbing for apples. It works for family nights, mixed-age parties and school events where some players read well and others need a helper, because every square is a short, familiar name.

On a 5x5 card with a free center, Halloween bingo shows 24 of the 46 entries, so each one lands on about 52% of the cards: in a set of 30, Jack-o'-lantern or Black cat appears on roughly 16 cards. Card 1 leaves out 22 of them, including Black cat, Broomstick and Cauldron, so no single card can mark everything.

Play it like classic bingo: one person reads the 46 entries in the shuffled order of the caller sheet, everyone marks matching squares, and a full row, column or diagonal wins.

When to play Halloween bingo

Halloween 2026 falls on Saturday, October 31. At home or at a party, play on Saturday, October 31 itself, a weekend day in 2026. For a classroom round, the closest school day is Friday, October 30.

In 2027 it falls on Sunday, October 31. Printing 30 cards at one card per page takes 30 sheets plus the caller sheet, so print a few days ahead and keep the share link (seed "halloween") to reprint the same set.

How long Halloween bingo lasts

Simulated over 150 shuffled games on cards 1-60 of this set: the median first line arrives on call 13 with 30 players and on call 16 with 10, while a blackout takes 42 calls, roughly 7 minutes at 10 seconds a call.

Halloween bingo cards for 50, 100 or 200 players

A free set prints 30 unique cards, so a bigger room needs several sets (New shuffle makes the next one) or one Pro set of up to 1,000. The last two columns come from 150 shuffled games on cards 1-200 of this Halloween set, at 10 seconds a call.

Running Halloween bingo in a big room

  • Number the sets: print set 1, press New shuffle for set 2 and so on. 4 free sets cover 100 players and 7 cover 200; each set's share link reprints exactly the same cards.
  • Plan for shared wins: with 200 cards in play, 25% of simulated games had two or more cards complete a line on the same call (20% with 50). Keep spare prizes or a quick tie-break ready.
  • Expect short rounds: the first line comes around call 9 of 46 with 200 players, against call 13 with 30, so follow it with a blackout or a picture pattern.
  • Count the paper: at one card per page, 200 players need 200 sheets plus a caller sheet; Pro's 2-up and 4-up layouts cut that to 100 or 50.

How to host Halloween bingo

  1. Print the Halloween cards

Give each player one card; a free set prints up to 30, no two alike. Card 1 above starts with Trick-or-treat, Costume, Jack-o'-lantern, Treat bag and Candy corn.

  2. Print the caller sheet

All 46 entries appear on it in shuffled order, opening with Monster, Costume, Howling wolf, October 31 and Spider web; tick each one as you read it out.

  3. Read the classic monster squares (Mummy, Vampire, Werewolf, Goblin) with a sound effect or a pose; younger players find the square faster when the call is acted out.

  4. Use a 4x4 grid for children under seven and keep Pumpkin carving, Candy corn and Treat bag on the list, since they are easy to picture and quick to spot.

  5. Print one card per guest with the caller sheet, cut the calls into slips and draw them from a Cauldron or a plastic Jack-o'-lantern for a themed draw.

  6. Call until someone shouts bingo

With 30 cards, expect the first line near call 13 (Haunted house in this set's order) and a blackout near call 42; check the winner's squares against your ticked list.

Halloween bingo variations

  • Halloween variation

Howl-along blackout: players try to cover every square, but whenever the caller draws Full moon or Howling wolf everyone must howl before marking, and anyone who forgets waits until the next call to mark it.

  • Blackout round

Card 1 needs all 24 squares, Trick-or-treat to Monster; on average one card fills after 45.1 of the 46 calls (98% of the deck).

  • Quick 4x4 round

A 4x4 card needs 16 of the 46 entries and no free space; one card is full after about 44.2 calls instead of 45.1.

First 15 calls of this Halloween set

Seed "halloween" gives this order, the same one the caller sheet prints. With these calls, card 7 of the first 30 completes row 1 (Pumpkin seeds, Spell book, Vampire, Howling wolf and Spider web) on call 17, and card 9 is the first full card on call 42.

Frequently asked questions

How many words are on the Halloween bingo list?

46, from Bat to Witch hat. A 5x5 card with a free center uses 24 of them, so each card leaves out 22. The shortest entry is Bat (3 characters) and the longest is Bobbing for apples (18).

Are all Halloween bingo cards the same?

No. Card 1 and card 2 of this set share 8 of their 24 squares, and every card is checked so none of the 30 in a free set repeats. About 4.90 × 10³⁶ different arrangements are possible from the 46 entries (7,890,371,113,950 different selections of 24).

How many Halloween bingo cards per person?

Usually one. Extra cards speed the game up only a little: on this list a first line took a median 13 calls with 30 cards in play, 12 with 60 (30 players on two cards each) and 16 with just 10. In a hall, extra cards per player only add checking: 200 cards in play already bring the first line to about call 9. For a bigger room, make a second set with New shuffle: two sets are not checked against each other, but with about 4.90 × 10³⁶ possible cards a repeat is vanishingly unlikely, and one caller sheet serves both because every set uses the same 46 entries.

How long does Halloween bingo take?

A Halloween game with 30 players usually reaches its first line after 13 calls (10-17 in 80% of simulated games), about 2 minutes at one call every 10 seconds. A blackout takes about 42; with 10 players the first line needs about 16.

Can I print Halloween bingo cards for free?

Yes, up to 30 unique cards per set at no cost and without an account. Pick how many you need, then use Print cards or Download PDF: each card gets its own page with the title “Halloween Bingo” on top, and the caller sheet lists all 46 entries in this set's shuffled order.

How do I make my own Halloween bingo cards?

Start from this list: the 46 entries are already in the generator, so delete Face paint or any other entry, type your own one per line and the cards update as you type. Keep at least 24 entries for 5x5 cards (16 for 4x4); the share link reprints exactly the same set.
