About Block Party bingo

A block party list for a street full of neighbors: the Road closed sign, Block captain and Name stickers, street games like Hopscotch, Double Dutch, Four square and Kickball, the Bike parade and Pet parade, food from the Grill line, Chili cook-off and Pie contest, and community squares such as Welcome new neighbors, a Swap table and the Cleanup crew.

On a 5x5 card with a free center, Block Party bingo shows 24 of the 40 entries, so each one lands on about 60% of the cards: in a set of 30, Road closed sign or Block captain appears on roughly 18 cards. Card 1 leaves out 16 of them, including Road closed sign, Block captain and Folding chairs, so no single card can mark everything.

The caller reads the 40 entries from a shuffled caller sheet and players mark them; the first complete line (row, column or diagonal) wins.

Block Party bingo cards for 50, 100 or 200 players

A free set prints 30 unique cards, so a bigger room needs several sets (New shuffle makes the next one) or one Pro set of up to 1,000. The last two columns come from 150 shuffled games on cards 1-200 of this Block Party set, at 10 seconds a call.

Running Block Party bingo in a big room

  • Number the sets: print set 1, press New shuffle for set 2 and so on. 4 free sets cover 100 players and 7 cover 200; each set's share link reprints exactly the same cards.
  • Plan for shared wins: with 200 cards in play, 18% of simulated games had two or more cards complete a line on the same call (17% with 50). Keep spare prizes or a quick tie-break ready.
  • Expect short rounds: the first line comes around call 8 of 40 with 200 players, against call 12 with 30, so follow it with a blackout or a picture pattern.
  • Count the paper: at one card per page, 200 players need 200 sheets plus a caller sheet; Pro's 2-up and 4-up layouts cut that to 100 or 50.

How to host Block Party bingo

  1. Print the Block Party cards

Give each player one card; a free set prints up to 30, no two alike. Card 1 above starts with Street hockey, Shared extension cord, Community garden, Grill line and Neighbor you just met.

  2. Print the caller sheet

All 40 entries appear on it in shuffled order, opening with Flyer on the door, Kickball, Pie contest, Street hockey and Cleanup crew; tick each one as you read it out.

  3. Hand out cards with the name stickers, and make 'Neighbor you just met' the square everyone tries to mark first.

  4. Set up the caller at the potluck table and call a few squares every half hour, so the game runs all afternoon alongside other activities.

  5. Add your street's real events, such as 'Fire truck visit' or 'Garage band', and remove any that are not on the schedule.

  6. Call until someone shouts bingo

With 30 cards, expect the first line near call 12 (Shared extension cord in this set's order) and a blackout near call 37; check the winner's squares against your ticked list.

Block Party bingo variations

  • Block Party variation

Door-to-door bingo: each household gets one card and may mark a square only after meeting a neighbor who did that thing. A full line means the household has met at least five neighbors.

  • Blackout round

Card 1 needs all 24 squares, Street hockey to Jump rope; on average one card fills after 39.4 of the 40 calls (98% of the deck).

  • Quick 4x4 round

A 4x4 card needs 16 of the 40 entries and no free space; one card is full after about 38.6 calls instead of 39.4.

First 15 calls of this Block Party set

Seed "block-party" gives this order, the same one the caller sheet prints. With these calls, card 16 of the first 30 completes row 2 (Pie contest, Kickball, Shared extension cord, Flyer on the door and Hopscotch) on call 12, and card 24 is the first full card on call 35.

Frequently asked questions

How many words are on the Block Party bingo list?

40, from Basketball hoop to Yard sale. A 5x5 card with a free center uses 24 of them, so each card leaves out 16. The shortest entry is Kickball (8 characters) and the longest is Welcome new neighbors (21).

Are all Block Party bingo cards the same?

No. Card 1 and card 2 of this set share 13 of their 24 squares, and every card is checked so none of the 30 in a free set repeats. About 3.90 × 10³⁴ different arrangements are possible from the 40 entries (62,852,101,650 different selections of 24).

How many Block Party bingo cards per person?

Usually one. Extra cards speed the game up only a little: on this list a first line took a median 12 calls with 30 cards in play, 10 with 60 (30 players on two cards each) and 15 with just 10. In a hall, extra cards per player only add checking: 200 cards in play already bring the first line to about call 8. For a bigger room, make a second set with New shuffle: two sets are not checked against each other, but with about 3.90 × 10³⁴ possible cards a repeat is vanishingly unlikely, and one caller sheet serves both because every set uses the same 40 entries.

How long does Block Party bingo take?

A Block Party game with 30 players usually reaches its first line after 12 calls (9-15 in 80% of simulated games), about 2 minutes at one call every 10 seconds. A blackout takes about 37; with 10 players the first line needs about 15.

Can I print Block Party bingo cards for free?

Yes, up to 30 unique cards per set at no cost and without an account. Pick how many you need, then use Print cards or Download PDF: each card gets its own page with the title “Block Party Bingo” on top, and the caller sheet lists all 40 entries in this set's shuffled order.

How do I make my own Block Party bingo cards?

Start from this list: the 40 entries are already in the generator, so delete Neighbor you just met or any other entry, type your own one per line and the cards update as you type. Keep at least 24 entries for 5x5 cards (16 for 4x4); the share link reprints exactly the same set.
